Phoenix Insurance appoints new management

The Board of Directors of Phoenix Insurance Company Limited has appointed Mr. Henry Bukari as the substantive Managing Director of the Company.

Mr. Bukari takes over from Mr. Sonny Heward – Mills who moves to head Phoenix Holdings.

Mr. Henry Bukari started his insurance career in 2002 with SIC Insurance Company Limited and joined Phoenix Insurance in 2007 as Head of Underwriting and was subsequently appointed General Manager in charge of Technical Operations in 2010, a position he held until his appointment as Managing Director.

He brings to the new role a rich experience spanning 16 years in the insurance industry and knowledge of the Phoenix brand.

The Board has also appointed Messrs. Raymond Agboka and Eleazer Nii Laryea as Deputy Managing Director and General Manager, Operations, respectively.
Until Mr. Agboka’s appointment, he was the General Manager in charge of Finance and Administration. He has over 22 years of experience in Finance, Auditing and an in-depth knowledge of Insurance Accounting.

Eleazer Nii Laryea Adjei also joins the Phoenix team as General Manager, Operations, supervising the core insurance business of Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance and Risk Management.

He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the abovementioned areas and brings to the role, exceptional technical abilities.

Their respective appointments have taken effect.

Speaking on the appointments, Board Chairman of the Company, Mr. D. K. D. Letsa said, “we feel Henry Bukari’s leadership, corporate and industry experience are ideally suited to take Phoenix Insurance to its next phase of development.”
