Accra, Aug. 12, GNA - The Home Finance Company (HFC) Bank on Thursday presented 17 cheques for 170 million cedis to 17 institutions at a ceremony in Accra.
The beneficiary institutions were: GETFund, 30 million cedis; Ghana Heart Foundation, Korle-Bu, 20 million cedis; Korle-Bu Accident Centre, 10 million cedis; Catholic Action for Street Children, 10 million cedis; Ghana Library Board, 10 million cedis; 37 Military Hospital, 10 million cedis; Students in Free Enterprise, 10 million cedis; University of Ghana Hostel Construction Fund 10 million cedis and National Partnership for Children's Trust, 10 million cedis.
The rest were Abokobi Water Project, 10 million cedis; Ghana Police Endowment Fund, 10 million cedis; Ghana Society for the Blind, 5 million cedis; Osu Children's Home, 5 million cedis; Save Our Souls (SOS) Ghana, 5 million cedis; Dzorwulu Special School for the Mentally Retarded, 5 million cedis; Rotary Club of Accra, 5 million cedis and Help Age Ghana, 5 million cedis
Mrs Mercy Mamley Tetteh, Secretary of the Company, presenting the cheques to the Representatives of the beneficiary institutions, said the donation formed part of the Bank's annual charitable gesture to provide relief for needy institutions.
"These institutions were carefully selected because of their special needs and for the special services they provide to society." She said the bank started this charitable gesture in 1996 and had been monitoring the beneficiary institutions to ensure that the monies they received were put to good use.
Mr Edwin Barnes, Chief Director of the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the beneficiary institutions expressed their gratitude for the gesture and assured the bank that the amount would be used for its purpose.
