Rich urged to establishment cottage industries

Winneba, May 23, GNA - The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Director of Education, Mr Frank Swanzy Essien, has appealed to rich people to invest in the rural areas, particularly in cottage industry to create employment for the youth.

He said this would prevent the youth from migrating to the urban areas for non-existent jobs, resulting in overcrowding, armed robbery, and prostitution and other socio-economic problems.

Mr Essien made the call after visiting the furniture manufacturing factory set up at Winneba by 'ODADO' furniture producing company. He advised management and workers of the company to work assiduously adding that government would encourage companies that produce quality products to increase out put.

He said the establishment of the company in the area would afford school leavers the opportunity to learn a vocation to enable them earn a decent living. 23 May 04
