GES partners MTN to address fallen standards in education

As part of measures to curb the increasing fallen standards in education within the Cape Coast Municipality, the Ghana Education Service, and telecommunication giants, MTN is collaborating to reverse the trend.

At a donation ceremony in Cape Coast, Mr. Simon Amoh, the Central and Western Regional Manager for South-West District of MTN promised management will partner education authorities together with chiefs to end this rather negative trend.

According to him, the company in the past is embarking on projects in the Municipality including the National spelling bee, essay competition, MTN teacher improvement award program as well as the national teacher awards among others all geared towards this.

Management of MTN presented a cheque of GH¢7,000 for the celebration of Oguaa Fetu Afahye scheduled for 2nd September this year.

In addition, the company also presented recharge cards worth GH¢1,000, assorted MTN souvenirs and hampers to the chiefs and people of the area.

He said the gestures was to show their support towards the celebration of this year’s Fetu Afahye Festival which is being celebrated under the theme “The falling standard of education in the Cape Coast Municipality; stakeholder responsibility”.

” It rests on us as stakeholders in development to means to support you the traditional leaders in researching to find a lasting solution to the root cause so you have our total support in that direction”, he assured.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the chiefs, the Chief of Efutu Mampong and Chairman of the Afehye Planning Committee, Nana Kow Amoasi III thanked the management of MTN for their gesture and promised that the Oguaa Traditional Council would continue to do business with MTN.
