British Airways (BA) says its operations in the country are rated among the top 10 in its worldwide operations.
The Director of Customer Service and Operations of BA, Mr. Mike Street, who disclosed this to newsmen at the weekend, said an airline would continue to inject the needed resources and attention to its operations in Ghana to improve the standards.
Mr. Street was in the country to attend the graduation ceremony of the Lord is my shepherded education centre at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region. The school was set in 1996 though the efforts of Mr. Dave Mustill, a British Airways flight dispatcher, who visited the Nyanyano area and discovered that school children were taking lessons under trees. Mr. Street, who is BA?s number two man, said although the airline had no immediate plans of expanding, it would not hesitate to put a bigger aircraft on the Accra route if business continued to expand.
However he said, indicators pointed to a bright future, saying ?our operation in Ghana has been a success. He was of the view that Bas operations in the country was contributing immensely to deepening the trade ties between the two countries and needed to be sustained. The country?s potential for tourism is enormous and the opportunities for that market are opening up on daily basis, he stated.
?You have got wonderful assets, climate and the friendliest people I have ever come across and tourism authorities need to capitalize on these, Mr. Street stressed.
Mr. Street commended Mrs. Essie Anno Sackey, the Country Director of British Airways and her team for their dedication and hardwork to the airline.
