Accra, April 2, GNA - Gains in 11 equities on the Accra bourse on Friday helped to maintain its rise with the Ghana Stock Exchange All-Share Index climbing by 153.65 points to 5,818.69 from Wednesday close of 5,665.04 points. Change for year was also up at 63.75 per cent.
Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) gained 7,000 cedis to close trading at 77,001 cedis; the Gambia (TBL) got 1,000 cedis rise at 17,000 cedis; SSB Bank had 999 cedis at 27,000 cedis while Aluworks rose by 650 cedis at 9,650 cedis. Other gainers were: Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) with 301 cedis rise at 16,501 cedis; British America Tobacco (BAT) and Mechanical Lloyd Company (MLC) gained 200 cedis each at 7,100 cedis and 1,800 cedis, respectively.
Cocoa Products Company (CPC); Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) and Home Finance Company (HFC) gained 100 cedis each at 1,200 cedis; 14,400 cedis and 9,200 cedis in that order. Unilever, which led the pack with Mobil Oil Ghana Limited with 500 cedis gain at Wednesday trading continued its rise with a modest 10 cedis gain at 19,010 cedis at the Friday trading.
Total number of shares traded was 569,700 with MLC selling 146,000 shares, followed by CPC's 137,100 shares and Produce Buying Company's sale of 116,100 shares. Eleven other equities sold shares. Market Capitalisation went up to 18,338.64 billion cedis from 17,950.45 billion cedis recorded on Wednesday both from 3,077.07 issued shares.
