MTN mobile money secured from e-Crime and financial fraud – Cynthia Lumor

The Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana,Cynthia Lumor has assured that, MTN mobile money is well secured from e-crime and cyber financial fraud.

According to her, MTN has laid the necessary security protection on Mobile Wallets of subscribers of MTN mobile money from all forms of Financial Crimes.

Mobile Money is booming in Ghana revolutionizing the financial sector.

Currently, 8.5 million registered subscribers are on MTN mobile money in Ghana whiles 16 banks have partnered MTN mobile money transactions allowing customers to withdraw monies and deposit monies into their bank accounts using MTN mobile money.

The revolution of mobile money has attracted concerns of financial security for Mobile money business by experts to check financial crimes including money laundering and cyber attacks.

However ,speaking to Ultimate FM after a Editors Forum workshop organized by MTN in Koforidua, the Corporate Services Executive of MTN, Cynthia Lumor stated that, MTN Mobile Money is safe she however, advised subscribers to be security conscious by protecting their Pin codes from any second party, and also ensure that, they do not fall prey to fraudsters who play on intelligence and emotions of customers to dupe them of their monies through wired means.

Meanwhile, MTN has paid a total of Gh¢45 million as interest on mobile money.

MTN raked in gh¢ 2.8 billion revenue in 2016 however, paid a total of Gh¢1.1 billion to government through various tax regimes, regulatory fees, and purchase of 4G spectrum from Government.

MTN has spent a total of Gh¢ 32.2 million on Corporate social responsibility within 9 years through MTN Foundation. The telecom giant says,it is expanding its 4G LTE in the country for a better experience.
