Lotto writers appeal to government

Tema, Feb. 7, GNA- The National Executives of the Lotto Agents/Writers Union of Ghana (LAWUG) on Friday appealed to the government to expedite work on how they would be incorporated into the main stream of the lotto industry.

At an emergency meeting held at Tema, they said "we are ready to work for and with the government to generate revenue for the nation but this is being undermined by the delay in the processing of documents". Mr Ransford Boama-Boakye, chairman of the LAWUG said they appreciated the efforts that government was making "because we want the state to benefit from us".

He appealed to the government to urge the Department of National Lotteries (DNL) to ensure that the deal was expedited. He regretted that while the issue is at the negotiation table with the DNL, they could not stay idle.

Mr Boama-Boakye appealed to the Ministry of Interior and Parliament to restrain the police from further harassment because their members were undergoing registration exercise.
