GBL to promote responsible drinking habits

Tamale, Nov. 8, GNA - The Ghana Breweries Limited would soon embark on a nation-wide public education to promote responsible drinking habits among its clients.

Major (rtd) Albert B. Don-Chebe, Corporate Affairs Manager of GBL, announced this at a "Meet-the-Press" in Tamale when he accompanied the Managing Director of the Company, Mr Segun Adebanji during on a tour of the Northern Region.

The Managing Director who was there to explain the policies, strategies and expectations of the company in the coming years to customers, interacted with journalists.

Major Don-Chebe said GBL would recommend limits for beer consumption to its clients to keep them healthy so that they could continue to patronise the products of the company.

"We are not medical officers to tell how much alcohol is good or bad for consumers but what we intend to do is to teach our clients how to drink alcohol responsibly to ensure good behaviour and health among them", he said.

Major Don-Chebe observed that some consumers indulged in excessive intake of alcoholic drinks resulting in their ill health and a burden on the national economy.

He said the company was working assiduously to make its products always available and affordable to clients at their doorstep. Major Don-Chebe said GBL had, therefore, started offering skills training to its salesmen and had also engaged the services of a consultant to help put the finances of its distributors in order to promote the growth of the company.
