Measures to save Biriwa Community Bank

Biriwa (C/R), Oct. 13, GNA - The Bank of Ghana (BOG) and the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Biriwa Community Bank would do everything possible to save the Community Bank from collapse. Rev. George Ato Mills-Graves, Chairman of the (IMC) gave the assurance at meeting with the staff at Biriwa.

He said BOG and the IMC would not allow actions of some few selfish and greedy people to collapse the bank.

Even though it was faced with management problems, the issue had been resolved, he said adding that, measures to streamline its operation were on course and called on customers or shareholders not to panic. The IMC Chairman said the biggest problem facing the bank now was loans recovery and appealed to defaulters to repay with the accrued interest by the end of October 2003 or have their names published in the newspapers and announced on radio.

Those who would fail to honour their loans after that action would be prosecuted, he added.
