Christopher Foe, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Thywill Business and Investment Consultancy Limited (TBICL), says his outfit will construct affordable houses for the average Ghanaian.
Mr. Foe, who was speaking in an interview with BUSINESS GUIDE, said this will materialise when his company introduces a new technology – Gas Concrete Technology (GCT) that ensures cheaper production cost.
This would form part of activities to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the company.
He said the company is already in talks with some partners from Europe who will start training its staff and hopefully roll out the prototypes after all necessary processes have been satisfied.
He said the materials used with the gas concrete technology were environmentally-friendly, meet international standards and regulated room temperature, hence the need for no air-conditioners.
As a result of the weight and stamina it can take support many storey buildings.
Mr. Foe said TBICL’s total quality management had brought it this far, having undertaken landmark projects such as the Damango – Kpassa Water Supply System, construction of transmission works, dormitory blocks, classrooms, offices and apartments.
The company was adjudged the Most Responsive and Competitive Company by the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA).
Ghana’s housing deficit is currently estimated to be 1.7 million units.
Acting Executive Director of the Ghana Real Estate Development Association (GREDA), Sammy Ameyibor, recently told members of the Ghana Real Estate Professionals Association (GREPA) that the real estate sector was experiencing a decline.
He attributed the decline to high production cost, interest rates, inflation rates and high tax regime, among others, and also proposed the establishment of a bank for housing and strong public-private partnership, particularly with indigenous firms.
Board chairman of TBICL, Prof Aheto, noted that the company was ready to venture into the international market.
