'Involve private companies in the decision-making process'

To ensure progress in the sanitation sector, stakeholders in the industry have pushed for more involvement of private companies in the decision-making process.

At the maiden sanitation stakeholder’s forum which was organized at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, it was identified that partnership among the private sector, the government and the partners are the best way to solve the insanitary epidemic facing this country.

The aim of the forum was to dialogue on the role of the private sector in providing sustainable and practical solutions to the country’s sanitation challenges.

Tthe President of the Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) and Chief Executive of the Zoomlion Company, Dr. Joseph Siaw-Agyepong, in an interview with Metro TV’s Paul Adom Otchere, noted that he believes problems facing the country could only be solved buy natives of the land and not necessarily foreigners.

He added that in the area of oil and gas, Ghana could make headways if the indigenes are given the chance by government to collaborate and exploit such resources to the benefit of the nation.

The maiden sanitation dialogue was organised by the Environmental Services Providers Association (ESPA), Zoomlion Company Limited, the Fidelity Bank, the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL) and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD).
