Dozens of Africa World Airline passengers bound for Accra are stranded at the Tamale Airport as a result of what officials say is a technical challenge.

The flight was scheduled to leave the Tamale Airport at exactly 1:30PM Sunday but passengers were told by officials that they would have to wait a bit longer due to the challenge being faced with the aircraft.

One of the passengers who pleaded anonymity told tv3network.com that officials said "he passengers are to wait for engineers from Accra to come and deal with the problem before passengers are conveyed to Accra".

According to the source, the airline officials have said they were also considering making arrangements with another airline, Starbow, for the about 45 passengers to join their flight to Accra.

Asked whether they were being catered for well, the source responded: "nothing provided yet". TV3 later gathered the stranded passengers were given a pie and some soft drinks [sprite].
