Aspiring National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Akwasi Opong-Fosu, has praised the Mahama administration for what he describes as progress in stabilising Ghana’s economy and restoring investor confidence.
He said the government had made significant efforts within a short period to improve economic conditions and lay the foundation for industrial growth.
Speaking on Channel One TV on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Opong-Fosu said the government’s economic policies were beginning to yield positive results.

“So it’s good we have a government that has managed, within this short period, to stabilise the economy and has also launched a rapid industrialisation drive for growth. These are positive,” he said.
He described the government’s focus on industrialisation as an important step towards boosting production, creating economic opportunities and supporting long-term growth.
Opong-Fosu also cited improved investor confidence, drawing on his interactions with investors in his capacity as Board Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).
He said growing investor interest was an encouraging sign for Ghana’s economy and its efforts to attract investment into key sectors.
Beyond the economy, he urged the NDC to adapt its approach following its transition from opposition to government.
“We have moved from a party in opposition to a party in government. That’s huge. The approach and the tools whilst you are in opposition will be different from when you are in government,” he stated.

He stressed that the party must support the government’s economic and development programmes while holding the administration accountable to ensure its promises translate into tangible benefits for Ghanaians.
