The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has begun a 13-day investment roadshow across five regions in northern Ghana to connect investors with identified business opportunities ahead of the 2026 Invest Ghana Summit.
The roadshow, scheduled for October 11 to 23, will cover the Northern, North East, Upper East, Upper West and Savannah regions.
It forms part of GIPA’s Investment Opportunities Mapping Project (IOMP), launched in July 2025, which has identified more than 600 investment project profiles nationwide.
The initiative is also intended to showcase investment opportunities across Ghana ahead of the Invest Ghana Summit, scheduled for November 16 and 17, 2026.
According to GIPA, 128 of the project profiles received nationwide came from the five northern regions, highlighting opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, tourism, mining, renewable energy, logistics and trade.
The Upper West Region recorded the highest number, with 45 project profiles, followed by the Northern Region with 38, Savannah with 19, Upper East with 16 and North East with 10.
GIPA data indicate that the five regions attracted 100 registered investment projects with an estimated foreign direct investment value of US$1.91 billion between 1994 and June 2026.
The investments were largely concentrated in agriculture and manufacturing.
The Northern Region recorded the highest number of projects, with 68, followed by Upper East with 14. The North East, Upper West and Savannah regions recorded seven, six and five projects, respectively.
GIPA Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Abdul Razak Baba, is leading the delegation on engagements with regional ministers, business leaders and traditional authorities to explore investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships.
The delegation is also visiting selected investment sites and operating businesses, including Savannah Diamond Cement at Buipe and Baba Tree Company Limited in Wa, to assess existing investments and identify opportunities for expansion and collaboration.
GIPA Chief Executive Officer, Simon Madjie, said the five regions had significant investment potential in commercial agriculture, agro-processing, livestock, renewable energy, tourism, manufacturing, mining, logistics and cross-border trade.
“Northern Ghana is no longer a frontier of potential. It is a destination of opportunity. Through this roadshow, we are taking investment opportunities directly to the market, building strategic partnerships and creating pathways for investors to take part in the region's transformation,” he said.
He added that linking project identification with direct engagement with investors was expected to help attract investment to underserved regions and promote more balanced economic growth.
The roadshow is being organised in partnership with MTN Ghana, with support from the Office of the Chief of Staff, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, the Ghana Free Zones Authority, the Ghana Enterprises Agency, the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat and the regional coordinating councils of the five regions.
The identified projects are expected to be among the investment opportunities showcased to potential investors at the upcoming Invest Ghana Summit.
