The Paramount Chief of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area, Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, has praised Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, saying he is proud to have him leading Ghana’s Finance Ministry.
According to the traditional ruler, Dr Ato Forson has played an important role in boosting investor confidence in Ghana.
Speaking during a GH¢391.2 million dividend presentation by Perseus Mining to the government, the Paramount Chief said foreign investors he had introduced to Ghana were impressed by their interactions with the Finance Minister.
He said the investors left the country convinced that Ghana was a safe destination for investment and were prepared to encourage others to do business in the country.

“I have been proud to have a Finance Minister like you, especially to the foreign investors that I have brought here over that period,” he stated.
Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI also praised the government’s shareholding in Perseus Mining, saying it was generating direct financial benefits for Ghanaians.
The GH¢391.2 million payment represents the government’s 10% free carried interest in the mining company.
Receiving the dividend, Dr Ato Forson thanked Perseus Mining for being a responsible corporate citizen and urged other mining companies to declare and pay dividends due to the state.
He said the payment demonstrated the value of Ghana’s free carried interest in mining companies and the importance of ensuring that the country benefits from its mineral resources.
