New images showing the ongoing transformation of Terminal 2 at the Accra International Airport have offered a glimpse into the progress of the $15 million upgrade project.

The latest pictorial update was shared on Facebook by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, highlighting work underway to modernise the terminal ahead of its expected completion and commissioning in December 2026.

Upon completion, the upgraded Terminal 2 will handle both domestic and international flights as part of efforts to ease congestion and improve passenger experience at Terminal 3.

The project includes significant improvements to the terminal’s baggage handling system, the installation of additional check-in counters, upgraded security checkpoints, and the refurbishment of retail and duty-free areas.

The upgraded facility is also expected to provide passengers with improved processing and boarding facilities while enhancing the overall operational capacity of the airport.

Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is engaging airlines to prepare them to relocate some of their operations to Terminal 2 when it reopens.

The redevelopment is part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure at the country’s main international gateway and ensure that airport facilities are equipped to meet growing passenger traffic.

The latest images show construction and refurbishment works progressing across various sections of the terminal.
