TDC Ghana Ltd has expressed concern over the demolition of preparatory works at its Community 1, Site 3 Housing Project by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA).

According to a press release posted on its Facebook page on Friday, August 13, 2026, the company said it received a stop-work order from the TMA on August 7, 2026. It said the order gave the company seven days to submit relevant documents and respond to the concerns raised by the Assembly.

However, TDC said officials of the TMA returned to the site on August 12 and demolished the preparatory works before the seven-day period had expired.

The company described the action as “deeply regrettable.”

TDC said it had already taken steps to address the issues raised by the Assembly through the appropriate channels.

“The period formally afforded to TDC Ghana Ltd to respond to the Assembly’s concerns was still running,” the company stated.

The company said disagreements between public institutions should be resolved through dialogue.

“The matter is best addressed through consultation and constructive institutional engagement,” TDC said.

TDC also stressed that it respects the mandate of the TMA and remains committed to meeting all regulatory requirements.

“TDC Ghana Ltd fully respects the statutory mandate of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly,” the company stated.

According to TDC, the Community 1, Site 3 project is part of its contribution to the government’s housing delivery programme. It said the project is aimed at helping address the country’s housing needs.

TDC welcomed the intervention of the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Anderson Fosu, and said it remains committed to a peaceful resolution of the matter.

“TDC Ghana Ltd remains confident that the matter can be resolved amicably,” the company stated.
