Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged Zonda Tec to leverage the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative to expand production, create more jobs and deepen local manufacturing in Ghana’s automotive industry.

According to her, the initiative could provide opportunities for companies such as Zonda Tec to increase production and employment as the government seeks to retain more value within the domestic economy.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang made the remarks on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, during her visit to the Zonda Tec assembly plant to inspect the company’s production of trucks, specialised vehicles, machinery and light vehicles.

“I encouraged the company to expand its operations by exploring opportunities to manufacture additional components locally,” she said.

According to her, expanding local production would strengthen domestic supply chains and ensure that a greater share of the value generated by Ghana’s growing automotive sector remains in the country.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang inspected quality-control processes, including tests for braking, suspension and water resistance.

She also toured Zonda Tec’s light vehicle assembly plant, where she observed the production of hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as workshops dedicated to vehicle servicing and maintenance.

She said the growing use of lower-emission vehicle technologies was important to Ghana’s efforts to meet rising transportation needs while reducing emissions.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang also called for closer collaboration between industry and training institutions to ensure that Ghanaian workers acquire the technical skills required by the changing industrial landscape.

“Our training institutions and industries must work more closely so that the skills we develop align with the opportunities available within our economy,” she said.

She commended Zonda Tec for its investment in skills development and urged the company to continue investing in local production, technology and the training of Ghanaian workers.
