The Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Seidu Issifu, has received relief items worth US$1 million from the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to support communities and families affected by the devastating floods of June 29, 2026.

The donation, presented by a UAE delegation led by Rashid Al Shamsi, forms part of international efforts to support Ghana’s flood response and recovery needs.

The support follows diplomatic and resource mobilisation efforts led by the Minister to rally international assistance for affected communities.

“We express our profound appreciation to the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates for demonstrating solidarity and leadership at this critical moment. The US$1 million worth of relief items will complement Ghana’s ongoing efforts to provide immediate assistance to affected families and communities and support their recovery,” he said.

Receiving the donation, Seidu Issifu called on Ghana’s international partners, development agencies, friendly governments, philanthropic organisations and the private sector to emulate the UAE’s gesture by supporting Ghana’s flood response and recovery efforts.

“Together, through partnership and solidarity, we can help affected families recover, rebuild and emerge more resilient,” he said.

Other government officials who attended the event included the Deputy Minister for the Interior, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi (MP); Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson (MP); and the Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Major (Rtd.) Dr Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon.
