Motorists across Ghana are expected to pay more at the pumps following upward adjustments in fuel prices by several Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), a development that is likely to increase transportation costs and the prices of goods and services.

A market survey conducted by GhanaWeb Business on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, revealed that fuel prices varied across major OMCs, with petrol selling between GH¢14.53 and GH¢16.29 per litre, while diesel prices ranged from GH¢16.50 to GH¢18.13 per litre.

According to the survey, Star Oil offered the lowest petrol price at GH¢14.53 per litre, with diesel selling at GH¢16.97.

Allied Oil sold petrol at GH¢15.50 per litre and diesel at GH¢16.50, the lowest diesel price recorded among the companies surveyed.

At Zen Oil, petrol was priced at GH¢15.05 per litre, while diesel sold at GH¢18.13, making it the highest diesel price among the selected retailers.

Meanwhile, TotalEnergies and Shell were both selling petrol at GH¢16.29 per litre and diesel at GH¢17.49 per litre. The petrol price was the highest recorded during the survey.

GOIL was also selling petrol at GH¢15.99 per litre and diesel at GH¢17.26.

The latest price adjustments are expected to place additional pressure on consumers and businesses, particularly transport operators who rely heavily on fuel for their daily operations.

Fuel prices in Ghana are reviewed periodically under the country’s petroleum pricing regime, with OMCs adjusting pump prices based on international crude oil prices, the cost of refined petroleum products, movements in the Ghana cedi against the US dollar, taxes, levies, and distribution costs.

As a result, fluctuations in global oil markets and exchange rate movements continue to influence domestic fuel prices.
