The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has closed several food service establishments along Oxford Street in Osu, including the KFC Osu branch, for operating without the required food hygiene permits.

The enforcement exercise, carried out on Thursday, July 16, 2026, forms part of the Authority’s ongoing campaign to ensure compliance with public health and safety regulations.

According to the FDA, inspections revealed that the affected outlets were operating without the mandatory Food Hygiene Permit Certificate, a legal requirement for all food service providers in Ghana.

The Authority stated that the businesses will remain shut until they meet the necessary regulatory conditions and obtain certification.

In a statement, the FDA reiterated that operators who fail to secure the mandatory permit risk enforcement action, including closure and possible sanctions.

It further urged all food business operators to regularise their operations by obtaining the appropriate permits to ensure compliance with food safety standards and avoid penalties.
