A high-level trade and investment mission led in part by Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, is set to take place in Accra from May 30 to June 6, 2026, bringing together government officials, investors, business leaders, and chambers of commerce from Ghana and the United States.

The delegation will explore opportunities across key sectors including agribusiness, manufacturing, logistics, fintech, tourism, energy, infrastructure, mining, and digital innovation.

According to the Head of Information at the Embassy of Ghana in Washington DC, the mission is designed to deepen economic cooperation between Ghana and the United States, particularly the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, while strengthening bilateral commercial ties.

“The event represents a major step in deepening economic cooperation between Ghana and the United States,” the Embassy noted, adding that it aligns with Ghana’s broader economic transformation agenda and its positioning as a gateway to Africa under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The mission will focus on strengthening Ghana-US economic relations by creating direct engagement opportunities between businesses, policymakers, and investors from both countries. It also seeks to position Ghana as a competitive investment destination.

“The mission seeks to position Ghana as an investment destination and showcase Ghana as politically stable, investment-ready, reform-oriented, and strategically positioned as an entry point into Africa’s 1.4 billion-person AfCFTA market,” the statement said.

A key focus will be sector-specific partnerships in agribusiness, manufacturing, transport and logistics, fintech, mining, tourism, renewable energy, SMEs, and digital innovation.

Diaspora engagement is also expected to play a central role.

“As Ambassador Smith has consistently emphasised, the diaspora is a bridge for trade, technology transfer, investment facilitation, and risk reduction in cross-border business partnerships,” the Embassy stated.

The mission is expected to result in increased foreign direct investment (FDI), expanded bilateral trade, and new partnerships between Ghanaian and U.S. companies through B2B and B2G meetings.

It will also provide a platform for negotiations expected to culminate in Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), investment commitments, technical cooperation agreements, and institutional collaborations.

In addition, Ghana is expected to showcase its 24-hour economy initiative as part of efforts to attract industrial investment and boost productivity.

Tourism and cultural diplomacy will also feature prominently, with site visits and engagements expected to highlight opportunities in eco-tourism, hospitality, heritage tourism, and the creative industries.

Key focus areas during the mission will include trade facilitation, regulatory efficiency, infrastructure readiness, logistics systems, and SME financing.

Stakeholders are expected to assess Ghana’s customs systems, ease of doing business, tax administration, land access processes, and investment protection frameworks.

The mission is being supported by Ghanaian government officials, the U.S. Embassy, Pennsylvania state representatives, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the U.S. Commercial Service, chambers of commerce, and private sector institutions.

The Embassy also described it as an action-oriented engagement focused on “matchmaking, B2B and B2G engagements, MOU negotiations, sector roundtables, and site visits,” rather than a traditional conference.

The 2026 US Trade Mission to Ghana is expected to serve as a strategic platform for strengthening economic diplomacy and advancing long-term partnerships that support industrial transformation, job creation, and private sector growth.
