The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has said ongoing engagements with Chinese institutions and companies are helping to position the proposed Gomoa Special Economic Zone as one of Africa’s leading industrial and commercial hubs.

In a social media post updating the public on the third day of his international investment mission, A Plus said he and his team visited the Guangdong Nanyue Institution, where they delivered a presentation on the Gomoa Special Economic Zone and outlined its geographical advantages, financing model, and implementation roadmap.

According to him, the discussions focused on forging strategic partnerships to support large-scale infrastructure development, industrial expansion, and long-term economic growth within the zone.

“Later in the day, the delegation visited Tree Ligo Company in Guangzhou, a firm with operations in photovoltaic energy storage, mining machinery and equipment, logistics, and auto parts trade,” he wrote.

A Plus said talks with the company centred on plans to develop an automobile and auto parts market within the Gomoa Special Economic Zone, as well as the establishment of modern service and technical training centres to equip Ghanaian youth with the skills needed to service Chinese vehicle brands and electric vehicles.

He added that he toured major spare parts markets and automobile trading centres in Guangzhou to gain first-hand insight into China’s automotive supply chains and commercial ecosystem.

According to the MP, the experience provided practical lessons that could help shape the development of a modern automobile and spare parts hub in Gomoa.

A Plus also disclosed that his team formally invited global automotive brands, including BYD, Tesla, and MG, as well as mining and construction equipment dealers, to participate in the Gomoa Industrial Fair scheduled for November 27 to 29, 2026.

He said the fair is expected to serve as a major platform for investment promotion, industrial partnerships, technology transfer, business-to-business engagement, and the attraction of global enterprises into Ghana’s emerging industrial ecosystem.

According to A Plus, the ongoing engagements are strengthening international confidence in the Gomoa Special Economic Zone and reinforcing efforts to build a globally competitive industrial, commercial, and technological hub in Ghana.
