The Managing Director of BOST Energies Limited Company, Afetsi Awoonor, has affirmed the company’s readiness to support the implementation of the government’s 24-Hour Economy Policy.

According to him, BOST Energies has the infrastructure, systems, and operational capacity required to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply as Ghana transitions to a round-the-clock economy.

Awoonor said that after more than three decades of operations, BOST Energies remains a critical component of Ghana’s energy backbone, transporting petroleum products from coastal receipt points to inland demand centres safely, efficiently, and reliably.

He noted that the company’s network of depots, integrated value chains, and logistics corridors provides a strong foundation for continuous fuel distribution.

Speaking at the launch of the 24-Hour Economy Pilot Programme for the petroleum downstream industry, organised by the National Petroleum Authority in Accra, Awoonor described President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy Policy as a bold initiative aimed at maximising productivity and unlocking Ghana’s economic potential.

“No nation can successfully operate a 24-Hour Economy without a 24-hour, reliable energy backbone,” he said, adding that “energy is the lifeblood of the 24-Hour Economy.”

He explained that BOST Energies has made deliberate investments in storage, transmission, and logistics infrastructure to ensure fuel remains available, accessible, and secure at all times.

Awoonor also commended John Abdulai Jinapor and Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo for their leadership in driving the initiative.

He stressed that collaboration among security agencies, customs authorities, regulators, and other stakeholders would be essential to ensure extended-hour operations remain safe, coordinated, and efficient.

“No single institution can build a 24-Hour Economy alone. It must be a shared national effort,” Awoonor said, noting that the petroleum downstream sector is the ideal starting point because fuel remains the most essential enabler of economic activity.
