Better still, the money should be invested in another airport to receive international flights. iI is shameful for Ghana to have only one airport that can land international flights. One evening last year, because of a rainstorm in Accra, the plane I was waiting to travel on could not land anywhere in Ghana. They had to divert to Lome to wait for the rain to subside before coming back to Accra to pick us up. Wouldn't it have been cost effective to land in Kumasi or even Sunyani? Shame on Ghana.

Ethiopia already have a big airport (the Boly airport) which is far bigger than the Accra International Airport. Despite the size of their current airport they are now building a new airport which will be the biggest airport in Africa. This new airport is estimated to cost $12.5 billion. In Ghana, we are praising our leader for renovating and connecting terminal 2 with terminal 3. We always settle for less because Ghanaians don't have the means to travel and see how other countries are developing. We are far, far behind as a nation.

Until Ghana develops a commuting railway system to ferry people and goods cheaply across distance, Ghana's transportation problems will remain unresolved. Accra is hardly a modern city without good urban transportation system; carting good/food stuff from the rural areas through trucks is not the best way. Can Ghana learn from what is going on in Ethiopia and other East African cities where railways are replacing road transportation? The Chinese are there to assist and we are still busy graveling roads? Go to the North, and it's pathetic to see the deplorable road. Expanding airport facilities is a smokescreen of development.

Long overdue and good news! One of the annoying things this airport lacked and this led to unnecessary suffering for passengers and exploitation by commercial drivers. Next step is to work on the removal of that crazy fiat of having to go to the car park in order to unload cargo into your car. Make life easy for passengers! The current system leaves much to be desired and it’s all about giving opportunities to the so called Civil aviation guys to ‘steal’ from motorists.
