Bringing Dental Care Closer: Danpong Healthcare serves Kotobabi TMWA

Marking World Oral Health Day 2026 under the theme “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Life,” Danpong Healthcare took preventive care beyond the clinic walls to Kotobabi TMWA, where more than 200 students and staff received free dental screenings, oral health education, and hygiene support.

The outreach, organised under the Danpong Cares initiative, brought this year’s theme to life by highlighting the direct connection between good oral health and overall quality of life.

The outreach, organised as part of Danpong Healthcare’s corporate social responsibility programme, mobilised a team of dental professionals to deliver essential oral healthcare services to the school community.

Beneficiaries underwent basic examinations to detect common conditions such as cavities, gum disease, and oral infections, as well as issues often left untreated due to limited access or awareness.

Speaking at the event, dentist and advocate for the Danpong Cares initiative, Dr. Abdul Muhsin Rashid, stressed the importance of prioritising oral health as a critical component of overall well-being.

“Oral health is often overlooked, yet it plays a vital role in our general well-being and quality of life,” he said, urging students to adopt the simple but essential habit of brushing their teeth twice daily.

Recognising that children learn best through practice, Dr. Rashid demonstrated proper brushing techniques, turning routine hygiene into an engaging, hands-on experience.

He also challenged common misconceptions about the cost of dental care.
“For those who think visiting a dentist is expensive, no! It only becomes expensive when you avoid it. Early visits can prevent complications that are far more costly to treat,” he explained.

He further encouraged staff, particularly parents, to prioritise dental check-ups as part of routine healthcare for their children.

Impact

For many participants, the outreach was more than a one-day intervention. It was a gateway to sustained care and awareness. The visible excitement among students and staff underscored the programme’s immediate impact, while referrals for advanced cases ensured continuity of treatment beyond the event.

Addressing the gathering, Danpong Healthcare’s Public Relations Officer, Esther Mamle Tetteh, highlighted the broader vision behind the initiative.

She explained that the Kotobabi outreach was designed not only to identify early dental issues but also to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed for lifelong preventive care.

“We believe that the most powerful form of healthcare is the kind that meets people where they are, before the emergency, before the crisis, before the cost becomes unmanageable,” she said.

She added that the outreach reflects Danpong Healthcare’s commitment to ensuring that more people can enjoy not just healthy smiles, but healthier, happier lives.

“Students requiring more advanced care have been referred to Danpong Medical for free treatment, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to ensuring that no case identified is left unattended,” the PRO said.

Ms Tetteh added that the Danpong Cares initiative will continue to expand its reach, bringing a people-first, approach to more schools and communities across Ghana, thus, bridging gaps in access and redefining what proactive healthcare looks like to Danpong HealthCare.
