Happy Sunshine Limited, a tomato paste manufacturing company, has reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility through impactful community projects.

According to the company, it donates GH¢1 from every carton sold to support the construction of schools in underserved communities.

The initiative to build a six-unit classroom block began two years ago in the Eastern Region, with the goal of improving access to quality education for children in deprived areas.

Speaking at the 2025 edition of the Africa Best Business Awards (ABBA), a representative from Happy Sunshine said the company has also expanded its product line to offer customers a wider range of choices.

ADAMA West Africa named Agricultural Input Company of the Year

“We have the 70-gram, 210-gram, 400-gram, 1.1-kilogram, and 2.2-kilogram packs. We've been operating in Ghana for the past 13 years, and for the past two years, we’ve taken on a corporate responsibility initiative. We donate one cedi from each carton of tomato paste sold to build schools in deprived communities. We started in the Eastern Region and are currently working on building a community school in one of its areas,” he said.

He added that winning an award at the event signified the company’s growing efficiency and effectiveness in serving the Ghanaian market.

“Our consumers should expect quality and nutritious tomato mixes. We're also producing hot pepper and have started manufacturing shito sauce. These new products reflect our commitment to providing nutritious, high-quality food that meets the evolving needs of our customers,” he added.

Happy Sunshine Company Limited secured awards for Best Product Discovery (Lavonce Pepper Powder) and Manufacturing Company of the Year (Tomato Paste) at the 2025 edition of the Africa Best Business Awards.

The 2025 edition celebrated over 30 top-performing companies and entrepreneurs from across the continent, reaffirming the private sector’s pivotal role in driving Africa’s economic transformation.

Held at an exclusive executive dinner in Accra on November 7, 2025 under the theme “Honouring Business Brilliance, Shaping Africa’s Future,” the event recognised firms and individuals that demonstrated outstanding excellence in innovation, sustainability, and cross-border impact.

Organised by Delve Afrique Communications and Maven Communications, with support from Zeliatte Media, the awards ceremony celebrated companies that have shown resilience, creativity, and consistent growth in an increasingly competitive global market.

According to Maven Communications Director, Seth Jojo Danso Asante, the awards board, comprising experts from business, academia, and government, evaluated firms based on longevity, quality, corporate governance, and global competitiveness.

He noted that the awards were not only a recognition of past achievements but also a call to action for businesses to continue upholding ethical leadership, innovation, and social responsibility.
