The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has intensified its nationwide campaign to clamp down on illicit fuel trading, warning individuals and businesses involved in such activities to desist or face the full rigours of the law.

The Authority stressed that all operators within the downstream petroleum industry must comply with established regulatory requirements to ensure fairness, safety, and efficiency across the sector.

According to the NPA, the campaign is part of broader efforts to sanitise the petroleum industry, protect consumers, and safeguard government revenue from leakages caused by unauthorised fuel transactions.

Officials noted that the Authority remains committed to working closely with security agencies and other stakeholders to tackle the menace of illegal fuel trading, which poses significant economic and safety risks.

The NPA has therefore urged all industry players to strictly adhere to the law and cooperate with regulators to promote transparency and stability in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
