‎Former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Michael Okyere Baafi, has urged for a strategic redirection of Ghana’s economic gains into the productive sectors of the economy, particularly industry, as a means to drive sustainable development.

‎Speaking on Joy News AM Show, Baafi noted that while the economy is showing signs of improvement with reduced financial leakages and a more stable currency, the real challenge lies in ensuring that these gains translate into long-term growth.

‎He highlighted the importance of expanding Ghana’s industrial base to boost exports, create jobs, and build a resilient economy.

‎“Our only saviour is the industrial sector,” Baafi stated.

‎He stressed that savings made through improved economic management must be invested in industrial activities that can generate more revenue and employment, especially for the youth.

‎His comments come as Ghana continues to implement policies aimed at industrial transformation and economic diversification.
