Former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Michael Okyere Baafi, has urged for a strategic redirection of Ghana’s economic gains into the productive sectors of the economy, particularly industry, as a means to drive sustainable development.
Speaking on Joy News AM Show, Baafi noted that while the economy is showing signs of improvement with reduced financial leakages and a more stable currency, the real challenge lies in ensuring that these gains translate into long-term growth.
He highlighted the importance of expanding Ghana’s industrial base to boost exports, create jobs, and build a resilient economy.
“Our only saviour is the industrial sector,” Baafi stated.
He stressed that savings made through improved economic management must be invested in industrial activities that can generate more revenue and employment, especially for the youth.
His comments come as Ghana continues to implement policies aimed at industrial transformation and economic diversification.
