Former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Yofi Grant, has called on African leaders and policymakers to take bold steps in crafting and implementing homegrown strategies to propel the continent’s economic growth over the next decade.

Speaking on Africa’s rising global significance on the sidelines of the EMY 10th anniversary launch with GhanaWeb Business, Yofi Grant stressed the continent’s vast potential to lead the next wave of global economic transformation.

“Africa is going to be the most important continent for global economic growth in the next decade. This is the time for us to start recognising our champions and our winners. We have to put them on the global platform so that others can see them and know what they can do,” he stated.

According to him, there is the need for Africa to tell its own success stories and leverage international platforms to showcase its capabilities.

"It's not always about people from the other side of the world. I mean, we've got our own and we've got to show it. We've got to tell our story and tell it well," he added.

He further emphasised that Africa must not only be a participant in the global economy but a key driver through self-determined policies, recognition of local talent, and promotion of its achievements.

"I think we are going to see a bigger effort at exposing the good things that are happening in Africa. I have absolutely no doubt about it," he said.
