Coral Paints Ghana has launched the "Women in Colour" initiative, aimed at empowering 20 women by providing them with skills development opportunities in the painting industry.
Officially launched on April 7, 2025, the initiative seeks to address the socio-economic challenges faced by women by offering training that enhances their proficiency in painting techniques and broadens their career prospects.
Speaking to GhanaWeb Business on the sidelines of the launch event, the Business Development Manager of Coral Paints Ghana, Luis Carlos Da Silva, described the initiative as a significant step towards inclusivity and diversity within the sector.
"By equipping women with specialized skills, Coral Paints aims to foster economic independence and contribute to the overall growth of the industry," he noted.
He further emphasised that the initiative reflects Coral Paints’ commitment to corporate social responsibility and the promotion of gender equality in traditionally male-dominated fields.
"We have been conducting this type of training for painters for 25 years, providing learning and development opportunities. We replicated the main guidelines we've followed in Brazil and decided to continue in Ghana, taking into consideration the local cultural and economic context."
"We are very hopeful and pray that we will have the same success in Ghana, and offer different groups of women the opportunity to learn and develop their painting skills in a male-dominated market," he added.
The company anticipates that the 'Women in Colour' program will not only benefit participants directly, but also inspire broader societal change by challenging stereotypes and encouraging more women to pursue careers in the painting and construction industries.
