Gold Fields names new vice president for West Africa

Accra, Nov. 3, GNA - Gold Fields Ltd on Monday announced the appointment of Mr Peter Turner as the new Vice President and Head of its West African operations. He replaces Mr Johan Botha who will be retiring at the end of this year after six years of duty tour in Ghana, statement from the company quoting the Executive VP of Gold Fields International Operations in Johannesburg, Glenn Baldwin. It said Mr. Turner's Peter's appointment was effective from 1 October 2008.

He holds an NHD in both Mechanical and Mining Engineering and brings on board over 33 years experience in the mining industry with Anglo American, AngloGold and Gold Fields in both open pit and deep level underground operations, having previously worked in Mali, Tanzania, Namibia and South Africa.

Before his appointment to Ghana, Mr Turner was the Vice President and Head of Gold Fields' Kloof and Driefontein operations in South Africa. 3 Nov. 08
