Lufthansa hosts Star Alliance Family Fun Day

Accra, April 2, GNA - Lufthansa German Airlines and South African Airways, members of Star Alliance, have joined hands to host a fun filled day for their families to celebrate a successful year membership of the Alliance.

The activities will include the joint mileage program "Miles & More" and the South African Airways loyalty program "SAA Traveller", the Lufthansa junior mileage program "Jet Friends" and "Junior Voyager" from South African Airways, and "family friendly" products of the co-sponsors.

They will be demonstrated live with internet "hotspot" connections provided by K-Net.

Other co-sponsors are Pepsi, Kasapa, Milani Fruit Drinks, K-Net, Multichoice , Stanbic Bank, Cadbury, Incolac, Erata Hotel and the South African embassy.

Games and sporting events such as basketball matches, 5-a-side football matches, bouncy castles for children, an art competition for children and other fun activities will also be taking place to fill the promise as parents familiarize themselves with the various products on display.

Mr Silvio Uhlfelder, Country Representative of Lufthansa German Airlines said "Africa was an important market with great growth potential and, "with Star Alliance members such as South African Airways' network combined with those of Lufthansa, the number of African destinations served by both airlines would lead extended and improved market access.

He explained that Lufthansa intended to take a leading position with creative ideas, which was one of the key objectives of the Star Alliance group.

The Star Alliance Family Fun Day is a celebration of the best that both partners have to offer the Ghanaian market. The event is scheduled to run from Saturday the 7th April 2007 at the Aviation Sports Center in Accra from 10am - 6pm. Mr. Uhlfelder said individual booths with live demonstration of products to travellers on both Star Alliance and services Lufthansa and South African Airways would be on show.
