Groups and individuals benefit from loan

Kadjebi (V/R), Dec. 5, GNA - A total of 460 million cedis has been disbursed to 151 individuals, groups and cooperatives for dry season vegetable farming and other businesses in agriculture under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) in the Kadjebi District.

Addressing the recipients at a presentation ceremony at Kadjebi at the weekend, Mr. Kofi Adjei Ntim, the Kadjebi District Chief Executive, advised them to use the money for the intended purpose and urged them to work hard to derive maximum benefits from their investments. He said the loan would attract eight per cent interest and payable within a year, adding that the government had introduced the programme to empower the youth and stem the rural-urban drift for non-existent jobs.

Mr Ntim called on those who had not registered with the programme to do so and select from the various modules created to employ them as promised by the government.

Mr. Lawrence Adzomani, District Coordinator of the Programme, said the money came from a special fund enjoyed only by Kadjebi, Nkwanta, Akatsi and Ketu districts in the Volta Region for dry season vegetable farming.
