Work begins on Adeiso-Asamankese road

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere has cut the sod for the commencement of a 24 kilometre Adeiso-Asamankese road estimated at GH?31,000,000.00.

It is the first phase of cocoa roads to be constructed in the Region and is expected to be completed in 18 months.

Addressing the chiefs and people, the Minister said the road has been divided into two parts; 10 kilometres stretch from Adeiso to Asikasu and 14 kilometers wide from Asikasu to Asamankese for two contractors to speed up work.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako called on the communities along the road to cooperate with the contractors to enable them to complete the project early.

Upper West Akim District Chief Executive, Mr Derek Ohene Bekoe said the project is a demonstration of government’s commitment to the development of the area.

He assured the Regional Minister of the assembly’s support to the contractors to ensure a speedy completion of the project to facilitate economic activities in the district.

Osabarima Asare Oduro, Chief of Adeiso, urged the community members to support the contractors to ensure that they meet their targets.

Mr Michael Azu, Project Manager for General Construction and Development Limited, gave the assurance that if the community offers the needed support, the contract could be completed within 12 to 14 months.

At Kade, the Minister inspected the 10- kilometre Kade-Subi road, which is in a very bad state and told the chiefs and people in the area that the facility has been awarded for maintenance and the contractor would soon start work.
