Work On Tema-Sogakope Road Begins

Work on the 81.5 Kilometre Tema-Sogakope road forming part of the coastal trans-ECOWAS highway has started.

The President, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor, yesterday cut the sod to officially mark the beginning of work on the project.

The ?225 billion project expected to be completed in 30 months, is largely being funded by the Kreditanstalt Fur Wiederaufbau (KFW) of Germany, which is paying ?200 billion while the Government of Ghana is bearing the rest.

The road will be rehabilitated to an asphaltic concrete dual carriageway, with road furniture, traffic signals and crash barriers. Messrs Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company Limited are the contractors and Messrs Gauff Ingemeurs are the consultants.
