Western Region creates platform to enhance business development

The Western Regional Coordinating Council has instituted a platform to
connect local businesses with foreign investors to enhance trade and
Development.

Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah the Western Regional Minister said this when he met a Spanish Business Delegation at the residency in Sekondi to discuss possibilities of collaboration and partnership between the Canaria Regional Government, the WRCC and business Executives.

The Regional Minister pointed out that the Western region has a lot of business potentials which could be developed to the advantage of the region and the nation at large.

He said areas such tourism, agriculture, infrastructure as well as oil and gas could be well developed with the involvement of the private sector and foreign investors.

Mr Darko-Mensah said the Western Region was the key contributor to Ghana's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is about 50%.

He said minerals such as gold, manganese, bauxite, and even oil and gas was produced in the region in commercial quantities and called on prospective investors to invest in the region.

The Regional Minister said the platform created would also help connect business communities in the region directly to investors in Spain.

He said his aim to create a direct connection between businesses in the Western Region with those in Spain and noted that the connection with the Spanish Business Delegation would help the private sector within the Region to network and develop the necessary connections to help grow their businesses.

Mr. Isidoro Lopez, Director of Canaria Consulting and Trading, said the fruitful cooperation with Ghana particularly the Western Region would help them invest their resources especially in the tourism industry.

Mr. Lopez who is also the leader of the Spanish business delegation gave the assurances that his outfit would help the Western Region to achieve its vision.
