Customers of troubled gold dealership firm, Menzgold have registered their preparedness to do business with the company if it legitimizes its operations in order not to incur the wrath of the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) as well as the Bank of Ghana (BoG)

The leader of aggrieved Menzgold Customers in Ashanti Region, Barfour Amankwaa has stated categorically that Menzgold customers will still do business with the Company if the company is able to provide better documents to the effect it is not flouting the laws of the country as claimed by the regulators, MyNewsGh.com reports

The aggrieved Menzgold Customers since last year have embarked on series of demonstrations demanding for their investment locked up with the company following pressure mounted on it by the regulators.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ordered the closure of Menzgold Company arguing that management of the Menzgold Company failed to provide better documents making the company operations illegal.

Halting the operations of the company by SEC was the genesis of its woes as it failed to pay investments of its clients as well as their accrued interests leading to agitations with calls on the central government to intervene in the matter.

But Baffour Amankwaa who was speaking on Kumasi-based Abusua FM in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com, said a majority of the customers are ready to do business with Menzgold despite the challenges if the company is able to provide better documents to prove its operations are legitimate.

According to him, Menzgold was already paying the customers before the order from SEC and Bank of Ghana leading to its closure.

“Though Menzgold Company is facing challenges and we all know that but if the company start operations today and is able to show us better documents, some of us will do business with them. We the customers are not greedy as some government officials are saying. We were doing legitimate business with Menzgold Company” he said.

Barfour Amankwaa, however, commended the government for initiating some action as far as the Menzgold company issue is concerned about referring the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department that has gone to court and issued a warrant for the arrest of the Directors of the Company including Nana Appiah Mensah affectionately called NAM 1.
