The Small Taxpayers Office (STO) and the Medium Taxpayers Office (MTO) of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in the Volta Region are engaging institutions and taxi drivers in the effort towards meeting its target of GHC 32,371,782.62 for 2017.

Staff of the offices marched through the principal streets of Ho, the Volta Regional capital on Monday to begin such engagements through the dissemination of tax sensitization leaflets and messages.

Mr Peter Elolo Darrah, Manager, Ho STO, said the Region was falling behind its annual target and that the campaign would tour institutions and other contributors such as taxi drivers to help meet the target.

He said the campaign which was launched nationally on November 1, was to encourage taxpayers to honour their civic responsibilities and pay contributions voluntarily and promptly.

Mr Darrah said record keeping remains a major challenge for contributors and urged them to keep tabs on their financial activities towards building an effective revenue collection system.

He said taxes are the backbone of the economy and that faithful contributions would enable government to maintain a favourable business environment.
