Vodafone rewards retailers

Accra, Sept 15, GNA - Six retailers of Vodafone products in Accra, were on Tuesday presented with prizes in the first Accra double draw of the "stock big, grow big, win big" promotion.

The double draw comprised of the July and August draws for which three winners were rewarded in each draw.

Kwame Tsakaru and Doreen Mensah, both retailers of Vodafone products in Accra, won the first prizes for July and August respectively; they each took home a bicycle, back pack, Vodafone souvenirs and a retail set, comprising of a table, umbrella and a mobile phone stocked with GHC100 worth of credit. Nana Denkyi and Nina Wutah were the first and second runners up for July while Wisdom Opoku and Bright Tsatsu were first and second runners up for August.

They each took home retail sets each and Vodafone souvenirs. Mr. Ekow Blankson, Trading Marketing Manager of Vodafone Ghana, told the GNA similar draws would be organized in all ten regions within the next few weeks.

He noted that retailers only needed to stock Vodafone products to be issued with coupons and entered into a draw to win. "For every GHC20 of Vodafone products you stock you get a coupon," he said.

He said since the promotion started, retailers of Vodafone products had increased from 50,000 to 70,000 within a period of less than five months.

Mr. Blankson said the promotion had proven to be an effective means of providing jobs for Ghanaians, adding that winners were given prizes relevant to their trade.

"This is the first time such a promotion has been organized in this country, where people buy items to sell to make money for themselves and yet they are rewarded for making money for themselves," he said. In the ultimate draw, the top winners from each of the ten regions would take home a 4x4 pick-up vehicle, 10 first runners-up would receive a motor bike each whilst 10 second runners-up take home a 42 inch plasma television set each. The final draw is slated for November 2009.
