Vodafone Wholesale Ghana wins Global Carrier Awards

Vodafone Wholesale Ghana has won the award for Best African Product or Service at the prestigious Global Carrier Awards in Amsterdam.

The 13 member Global Carrier Award Judging Panel made of Senior Business Executives; Consultants & Business Journalists from across the global noted that “Vodafone Wholesale Ghana has made a significant contribution to West African connectivity this year following the completion of a 120km fibre-optic interconnectivity project between Ghana and Northern Togo’.

The completion of the 120km fibre-optic interconnectivity by Vodafone Wholesale Ghana means Ghana is now fully connected to Togo and Burkina Faso and confirms the company’s dedication to meeting the capacity needs of the West African Sub-Region.

Jhamb Vivek, Director Northern Europe & North Atlantic for Vodafone Carrier Services who received the award on behalf of Vodafone Wholesale Ghana, congratulated the Ghana Team and said he hopes the Best African Product or Service goes a long way to boost Ghana’s economy as the country becomes the hub for distributing internet capacity.

Managing Director of Vodafone Wholesale Ghana, Julius Nkansah Owusu-Kyerematen expressed his delight saying – “this is a success for the Vodafone Wholesale Ghana team”.

Picking winners from a record 150 entrants was facilitated by a structured scoring regime designed to ensure maximum possible objectivity. Judge Professor Dieter Lange stated “the new marking system allows a very distinct evaluation of the carrier initiatives and ensures that all relevant aspects are taken into account.”

The Global Carrier Awards have become the biggest and most prestigious awards event of the wholesale telecoms calendar. Now in its eighth year, 2013 attracted more entries and higher profile attendance than ever before with over 300 of the most influential industry executives congregating at the Hotel Okura, Amsterdam for the ceremony on 19th November.
