Veep gives assurance of more investment incentives

Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur on Wednesday urged investors to take advantage of existing structures and provisions in Ghana to increase their investments to Ghana.

He acknowledged the difficulties the nation is currently grappling with but gave the assurance that Ghana would overtime have more incentives to scale up domestic production.

He therefore urged both domestic and foreign investors to take advantage of the good investment climate being created by Government for more direct involvement in the economy.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur gave the assurance on Wednesday, when Prof Agyeman Badu Akosa, President of the Ghana Vitamilk Foundation led a five-member delegation to pay a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

Among the delegation were Mr Chote Sophonpanich, the Chairman of Green Spot Limited, producers of Vitamilk drink, and Mr Emmanuel Anane, Chief Executive Officer of Vitamilk Ghana Limited.

Mr Sophonpanich, from Thailand, is using Ghana as his entry point on his maiden visit to Africa.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur commended Mr Sophonpanich on the company’s investment in Ghana, adding, companies have not regretted making Ghana a preferred investment destination.

He also congratulated the company for considering to establish a factory in Ghana within the next two or three years, adding that the arrival of more companies is in line with the vision of the Government of Ghana, to create more jobs, especially for the youth.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur used the occasion also to commend the nutrition programme being undertaken by the Vitamilk Foundation, which was announced by Professor Akosa.

Prof Akosa said about 50 per cent of Ghanaian children under-six years suffer from a form of malnutrition.

He said the drink Vitamilk has therapeutic effect, and it was being used in the nutrition programme, which Foundation was doing at the Princess Marie Louise (Children’s Hospital) and the James Town Hospital would be replicated in other hospitals across the country.

Mr Sophonpanich said the Green Spot Company has been in Ghana for 10 years.

He described Ghanaians as a happy people and commended the Government of Ghana for the reforms it was taking the nation through.
