Valuable Brands in Ghana to be honoured

Five Consumer Brands and twenty business brands in Ghana, including Ghana News Agency, will be honoured at this year's Brand Excellence Awards to be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra.

A press release signed by Mr. Eric Affaidu, Chief Executive Officer of Premier Brands Ghana, the event organisers, said the yearly event which started in 2012, sought to identify exceptional brands and reward them for their excellence. The maiden edition of this scheme saw 40 brands awarded as Ghana’s Super Brands.

The organisers have confirmed that since then brands have grown tremendously in the way they brand themselves, and those who have shown great signs of excellence will be 'graduated' as part of Ghana's Premier Brands, confirming them as leaders in their business categories.

“The climax of the event will see Top Ten Brands in Ghana awarded as Ghana's Greatest Brands of all time for obtaining the highest customer loyalty over the years. These top ten brands have been ranked to include Ghana Commercial Bank, Daily Graphic, Ghacem, MTN, Frytol Cooking Oil, Pepsodent, Golden Tulip Hotel, Peace FM, Omo and Voltic.

“Among the companies to be awarded as Ghana's Premier Brands are Ghana News Agency, Japan Motors, Glico General Insurance, Medlab Ghana Ltd, Westafco Ghana Ltd, Bayport Financial Services, Afrodan Ghana Ltd, Efiewura TV Series, Aviation Social Centre, MediaCom Ghana, Laine Services, Dark & Lovely, and Zoomlion”, the release announced.

It said three other business brands include, The Telecom Channel, Vefa Africa, and Around The Clock, all Ghanaian-owned business brands under Time Trust Holdings Ghana Limited, will be receiving awards as Top Emerging Brands for improving their brand presence in competition in Ghana in recent times and showing great signs of offering value for money to their clients.

Premier Brands Ghana, an independent brand building consultancy firm, in partnership with The Centre for Brand Analysis Ghana, are in the business of promoting the discipline of branding, making it very necessary for businesses in Ghana to leverage on their brands' equity to grow their businesses, and also encourage businesses to take advantage of their positions in competition to reassure their clients that they are buying the best brands in their categories.

The Chief Executive Officer has, meanwhile, assured Ghanaian consumers to expect more innovative programmes in the near future aimed at helping consumers to make informed choices when it comes to what to buy to maximise satisfaction.
