Unilever Ghana has donated detergents and other home and hygiene products to the Osu Children’s Home as part of its campaign to support institutions and individuals maintain decent sanitation standards as a measure to assist in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was also an opportunity for Unilever Ghana to service its longstanding partnerships with the orphanage and to pledge support for its effort at providing good care for inmates of the facility.

Head of Communications and Sustainability of Unilever Ghana, Henry Malm, said the leading manufacturer and distributors of quality Home and Hygiene, Beauty & Personal care and food and refreshments products, also sees this gesture as complementing Government’s efforts at ensuring the maintenance of proper health and wellbeing habits amongst the citizenry, as it mobilizes the needed recourses to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Products donated included Sunlight detergent powders, VIM scouring powder for cleaning surfaces, Domestos also a leading bleach product, BF and Key brillant soap for the laundry and Sunlight Dishwashing liquid. The use of these products will guarantee good care for the children who are our future leaders.

Also, in the spirit of the Holy month of Ramadan, the company has donated 1000 bags of Home & hygiene products to the Ayawaso North Metropolitan Assembly for distribution to members of the Muslim community there. Each bag had laundry and surface cleaning products to help with their daily cleaning needs, even more importantly in this era of COVID-19, to prevent the spread of viruses and to protect lives. Unilever Ghana wishes all Muslims a happy Ramadan.

Unilever Ghana encourages all Ghanaians to keep their environment clean including their immediate surroundings which include high-risk areas such as door handles, kitchen, bathroom and toilets and to wash clothes frequently. It is also important to wash hands frequently, with soap under running water, as the surest way to prevent the spread of diseases.
