The Commercial Taxi Drivers Association has petitioned the Minister of Transport, Kweku Ofori Asiamah, over the operations of Uber commercial transport services in the country.

According to the group, Uber is operating illegally by using private cars for commercial purposes contrary to the Road Traffic Act LI. 2012 Reg. 141 (1)(b)2180.

The association, in a statement, said it is illegal for Uber cars to operate commercially.

The Association has therefore threatened that taxi drivers will stop paying taxes, stop paying for commercial driving license and “road worthy will be paid once in a year” if the illegality is not checked.
