Two-day maiden CFO summit kicks off in Accra

OML Africa is holding a two-day event of what is the largest gathering of Chief Finance Officers (CFOs) in Ghana.

The summit which started today February 27, 2020, at the African Regent Hotel in Accra has brought together over a hundred finance and accounting professionals across and beyond the country.

With the theme, “The Future of Finance-Digitise, Transform, Lead", the summit will witness presentations from several accomplished finance experts who will walk participants through how to adopt and use current and emerging technologies as finance professionals.

In his welcome remarks, the Head of Events at OML Africa Paul Asivor said delegates, after the two-day summit, will be equipped with the skills and knowledge that top modern finance experts ought to have.

He mentioned that with the traditional role of CFOs changing from “book keeping” to a much more robust role that makes them more integral to the survival of an organisation, there is the need for CFOs to digitise their finance function and to become the leaders of change in their companies, something participants will benefit from the summit.

Giving the opening keynote which focused on the topic “The CFO of the Digital Age: Driving Organisational Performance in Disruptive Times,” the Former Executive Vice President of CIMA, Professor Noel Tagoe, spoke about the operating context of the CFO, the CFO as a strategic leader, technology and tools for finance among others.

In all, he urged the participants and CFOs to utilise available technologies to help them proffer proactive solutions that benefit their institutions and their clients.

Amongst other things, presentations and discussions during the two day summit will border on topics such as: Offshore financial planning of private and corporate management, influence of culture of strategy on the future of CFO’s among others.

Internet Hall of Famer, Professor Nii Quaynor, is expected to give a presentation on “How Blockchain can Revolutionise the Finance Function.”

Other experts scheduled to deliver presentations during the summit include Financial Crime Analyst at Fidelity Bank Ghana Otis Yeboah, Chief Operations Officer of Nosmay Enterprise Solutions Mrs Emilia Yamson as well as International Economist, Dr Julius Kattah.
