Twellium commissions ultra-modern meat shop and abattoir in Tamale

Twellium Ghana, through its flagship corporate social responsibility platform, Verna Changing Lives, has commissioned an ultra-modern meat shop and abattoir in Bilpeila, Tamale, marking a significant milestone in promoting public health, food safety, and community development in Northern Ghana.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, attracted a high-level gathering of traditional leaders, government officials, and community stakeholders.

In attendance were chiefs of Tamale, assembly members, opinion leaders, and the Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency and Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu.

The facility, designed to meet modern hygiene and sanitation standards, addresses longstanding challenges associated with meat processing and handling within the Tamale metropolis. By providing a clean, regulated, and efficient environment for meat preparation, the project is expected to significantly improve food safety and public health outcomes for residents.

The initiative was undertaken following a request from Alhaji Alhassan Paul Mahama, Chief Executive Officer of Diligence and Checks Consult.

Deeply concerned about the hygiene conditions surrounding meat processing in parts of the Tamale community, Alhaji Mahama championed the cause and played a key role in spearheading the collaboration that led to the successful execution of the project. His advocacy and commitment to community well-being were widely acknowledged during the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Operating Officer of the Twellium Foundation and Marketing Director of Twellium Ghana, Ali Ajami, emphasized that the project aligns strongly with Twellium’s core values and interest in consumer welfare.

“This project matters deeply to us,” Ajami noted. “At Twellium, hygiene, quality, and consumer safety are non-negotiable. As a company that produces consumable products, we believe our responsibility goes beyond business.
Supporting initiatives that directly protect public health is central to who we are.”

He further expressed Twellium’s appreciation to Alhaji Alhassan Paul Mahama for his vision, partnership, and relentless support, describing his contribution as instrumental to the project’s success.

The commissioning of the Bilpeila meat shop and abattoir adds to Verna Changing Lives’ growing portfolio of impactful community interventions across Ghana. Over the years, Verna Mineral Water, produced by Twellium Ghana, has consistently distinguished itself as an industry leader in corporate social responsibility, earning multiple recognitions and awards for initiatives spanning health, sanitation, education, and environmental sustainability.

With this latest project, Verna once again maintains its position as a brand that invests meaningfully in the well-being of the communities it serves. The Bilpeila facility stands as a practical, lasting solution, one that reflects the power of private sector leadership, community collaboration, and shared commitment to improving lives.
