The Institute of Energy Service (IES) have called on the Power Distribution Service (PDS) to be mindful with how they treat customers.

Speaking on the issue that led to the clashes between the indegenes of Krobo-Odumase in the Eastern region and the police as well as the officials of the power distribution company, the Executive Director of Institute for Energy Security [IES] Ghana, Paa Kwesi Anamoah Sekyi said the event was unfortunate.

The residents of Krobo-Odumase went out against the power company saying they were ‘fed up’ with the outrageous electricity bills they had been receiving from the power distributors company.

They had insisted that the bills were outrageous and demanded the power company investigate the cause of the sudden rise.

In the chaos of the protest, 14-year-old Thomas Partey was hit by a stray bullet after security officers fired shots to dispel the crowd who had mounted roadblocks ostensibly to prevent staff of Power Distributing Company from switching off the main transformer that supplies power to the town.

Mr in his statement indicated he sided with the residents and called on the power distributors to treat their customers well.
