The Ministry of Transport has welcomed the introduction of a new line of fuel-efficient SUVs into the Ghanaian market, describing the move as a step toward reducing transport emissions and creating jobs in the automotive value chain.
Speaking on behalf of Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe at a vehicle launch event in Accra on August 4, 2025, a ministry representative said the arrival of the new vehicle range aligns with Ghana’s climate obligations and the evolving needs of consumers.
“This is not just about cars, it’s about investing in people, in skills, and in national development,” the official noted.
According to the ministry, the government remains committed to supporting initiatives that introduce affordable, low-emission vehicles while contributing to local job creation through technical training and after-sales servicing.
The Minister’s representative also highlighted road safety as a pressing concern, noting that over 80% of road crashes in Ghana are due to human error.
“We must take precautions against speeding, drunk driving, wrongful overtaking, and other dangerous behaviours,” the representative cautioned, urging motorists to obey traffic laws.
The Ministry reaffirmed government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for responsible innovation and sustainable growth in the transport sector.
